(1) on the left, shows the vertical stabilizer COM antenna
on an RV-3.

(2) on the right is a RV-4 Vertical Stabilizer COM antenna
and fairing with Bob Archer's VS COM antenna mounted inside. The
fairing extends over the top of the rudder. With the fairing
installed on the RV-4 VS, the VS assembly is the same height as
the RV-8 VS assembly.
Both fairings
are taller at the back edge to make the top level in level flight.
This compensates for the slope on the top of the vertical stabilizer
and rudder.
