Photo (1) on the left, shows the vertical stabilizer COM antenna on an RV-3.

Photo (2) on the right is a RV4 vertical stabilizer fairing with Bob Archer's VS COM antenna mounted inside. 

Both fairings are taller at the back edge to make the top level in level flight.  This compensates for the slope on the top of the vertical stabilizer and rudder.
